Wood for Trees takes on ration challenge for Concern Worldwide
Back to BlogThis year, award-winning data analysis and systems agency, Wood for Trees, has selected global humanitarian charity and long-standing client, Concern Worldwide, as its charity of the year.
We’ve worked with Concern Worldwide for over 12 years and we’re delighted to raise funds that go towards the amazing work they do, helping people living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their lives.
So far, we’ve raised over £1,000 by completing a sponsored virtual walk around Ireland and hosting a charity pub quiz. Now for our next challenge…
This November, Bean, Rob and Lesley are going to take on our own version of Concern Worldwide’s Ration Challenge. It’s an annual fundraising event, which took place this year 19-25 June. But for one week, in the lead up to Christmas when it’s so very tempting to indulge in winter comfort food, they’re only going to allow themselves the same rations to eat as a Syrian refugee living in a camp would have.
They’ll be living on:
- 1.92kg rice
- 400g plain flour
- 170g lentils
- 85g dried chickpeas
- 120g tinned sardines or tofu
- 400g tinned kidney beans
- 330ml vegetable oil
In addition, they’ll be able to earn some rewards to help them along the week’s minimal diet… But this depends on the amount of funds raised by your donations. So, please sponsor us to help make it just a little more bearable for the team, as well as supporting such a worthy cause. Here’s what your donations can also allow them…
- Earn a teabag for every five people asked to sponsor
- Raise £75 and add unlimited salt
- Raise £150 and add 210ml of milk
- Raise £250 and add 170g of a vegetable
- Raise £400 and add 120g of protein
- Raise £600 and add one 400g can of tinned tomatoes
- Raise £850 and add one 330ml hot or cold drink
- Earn 25g of fruit for every friend encouraged to sign up
As a small head start, they’re also able to add a single dried spice by sponsoring themselves and a clove of garlic by joining the team. You can help by sponsoring here!
